The lobster’s shell does not grow. When it becomes too small, she loses it & secludes herself while a new one grows. It is a time of enormous vulnerability, but at the same time absolutely necessary. Like the lobster, the adolescent is at that point of transition where it’s no longer what it was, and not yet what it will be. This series is born from my need as a mother to 2 adolescents to understand their reality. They are photos of my children and their circle of friends. They are intentionally quiet photos. I want to contrast the clean aesthetic with the internal storm. Start a conversation on the prejudices placed on what is often referred to as a frail and pampered generation with the other, darker side, that of a generation that lives under the continuous scrutiny of social media and with the hangover of the pandemic.
