The Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas presents Javier de Juan in the heart of the city, a retrospective of more than 40 years of multidisciplinary production by a key artist in the renewal of visual language in Spain since the late 1970s. From his beginnings in the movida to his latest digital works, it includes more than 130 works in fields as diverse as drawing, painting, poster art, comics, murals, audiovisuals, typography and graphic design.
Curated by Julieta de Haro, this exhibition shows how his work takes the pulse of the changes that have taken place in society and the urban environment in the city of Madrid during his intense and prolonged career. During this time, he has constantly explored artistic exploration, covering a wide range of media such as drawings, graphic novels and comics, posters, murals and audiovisual interventions in public spaces.
‘Javier de Juan has been able to interpret the city as a scenario in permanent transformation, where images dialogue with everyday life and new visual narratives’, emphasises the curator. Added to this is his interest in experimenting with new technologies, with which he has managed to compromise his drawings and create 3D works, which also form part of his work. and create 3D works, which are also part of the exhibition.
