Forbidden City, Beiing, China.
I wanted to go to Tianamen Square in front of the Forbidden City. I tried to use google to find out how I could get there, but Google is blocked in China, so I had to turn to Baidu, the local version. The first five hits told me about how the Tianamen killings were fake news …. I just wanted to know how to get there and what time they open… as a tourist.
In China, the Tianamen massacre is known as the June 4 incident. And what irony that despite attempts to hide its history, the stone - with its scarlet red that resembles dried blood, refuses to forget it.
