Ikigai: Marie Isabelle Poirier - Black Room
Isolina Arbulu Gallery's Black Room proudly presents "Ikigai," a captivating exhibition by the renowned textile artist Marie Isabelle Poirier-Troyano. Of French and Andalusian descent, Poirier-Troyano infuses her work with a deep connection to her roots and the picturesque village of Genalguacil, Málaga, where she resides.
In "Ikigai," Poirier-Troyano seamlessly merges her expertise in applied arts and interior design with a passion for traditional craftsmanship. Inspired by Japanese and Chinese art, she has mastered the Shibori technique and engraving, creating a distinctive fusion of East and West. Her work, influenced by the Bauhaus movement and Chinese expatriate artists like Chu Teh-Chun, spans textiles, drawing, furniture design, and jewelry creation.
This exhibition is a journey into the essence of purpose, where passion, skill, community, and sustenance intersect. Poirier-Troyano's creations invite viewers to reflect on their own Ikigai, offering a sensory experience that resonates on both a personal and universal level.
With accolades like the “Premio Nacional de Grabado Contemporáneo María Teresa Toral” (2019), Poirier-Troyano continues to share her craft globally. "Ikigai" is a testament to her mastery and a poetic exploration of the art of living with meaning.
