Magdalena Correa Santiago de Chile, b. 1968
In continuity with my previous projects, I approached a distant and isolated territory, from a physical and conceptual point of view. To a way of life developed in extreme natural and climatological conditions. I arrived in Alta Guajira, in Colombia, living with the Wayúu. A flat desert area where there is almost no water and where living with dignity becomes a daily heroic act. But in spite of this, the Wayúu Indians always show their best smile and fight difficulties with creativity. They are a people who, by dint of having to ignore their harsh reality, are forced to create a kinder and more bearable one.
