Somalia - An estimated 2.6 million people are internally displaced by both violence and drought. It is a harsh and unforgiving terrain that has shaped the soul of this country.
We arrived unannounced and were met with layers and layers of empty makeshift houses. At some point they realised that aid calculations are based on the number of houses (measured by drone) so they decided to build more houses. When they became aware of our presence, women with children arrived and fires were lit in an attempt to bring the abandoned village back to life.
