Overview

Patrick Fossey’s artistic journey is rooted in drawing—a discipline he considers foundational to his work as a painter, sculptor, and printmaker. His creative process often begins with a return to sketches in pencil, ink, or watercolor, which he describes as a way to "restart the machine." For Fossey, drawing is more than preparation—it is the essence of visual thought that informs all his mediums.

As a sculptor, Fossey embraces paradox: he seeks to transform heavy materials into works that feel light and aerial. His sculptures explore the tension between form and space, relying on the interplay of lines, shadows, and light to create a sense of movement and suspension. Some pieces are designed to be hung, subtly rotating with the air and offering viewers ever-changing perspectives.

Fossey often blends sculpture with graphic and pictorial elements, merging dimensions to emphasize structure and enhance interpretation. His work is both dynamic and contemplative, inviting the viewer to engage with space, form, and the invisible forces that shape them.

Now based in Genalguacil, Málaga, a village known for its strong artistic identity, Fossey continues to explore new visual languages and contribute to the international art scene.
