ZonaMaco - Mexico: Angélica Arbulu & Lola Guerrera

‘Beyond the Visible: Poetics of the Ephemeral’.

Lola Guerrera and Angélica Arbulú explore territories where the ephemeral and the everyday meet, exploring the essence of human vulnerability through an intimate dialogue with nature and the self.
Guerrera, with her photographic project of interventions in dry nature, immerses us in a reflection on tradition, folklore and the essence of Andalusian women. Her aerial and organic compositions evoke a feminine legacy that flows from generation to generation, anchored in the deep roots of customs and rituals that resonate in everyday life. Inspired by the cultural heritage that Federico García Lorca captured in his work, Guerrera offers us a poetic vision where fragility and resistance coexist in perfect tension.

In contrast, Arbulú explores adolescence as an intermediate and ephemeral territory, an instant in which the child sheds his or her infantile skin without yet inhabiting that of the adult. Through her intimate portraits she captures this moment of change, where fragility intertwines with the promise of transformation. Her work reveals the beauty in those everyday rituals that often go unnoticed, instilling a sense of calm, resignation and courage in the face of an inevitable transition and an unknown future.
