‘Beyond the Visible: Poetics of the Ephemeral’.
Lola Guerrera and Angélica Arbulú explore territories where the ephemeral and the everyday meet, exploring the essence of human vulnerability through an intimate dialogue with nature and the self.
Lola Guerrera explores the essence of Andalusian heritage, intertwining tradition, folklore, and the strength of feminine identity. Through carefully staged photographs, Guerrera creates poetic compositions inspired by Andalusian customs and rituals, evoking the cultural legacy immortalized by Federico García Lorca. Her work combines fragility and resilience, offering a meditation on the endurance of cultural traditions.
In contrast, Angélica’s work reflects on the formation and loss of identity through everyday rituals that often go unnoticed. Her choice of subject matter is informed by her experiences as a woman and perennial migrant. Using mixed techniques and techniques inspired by Indigenous practices traditionally associated with women, she creates works that express both her connection with the subjects and delve into the storytelling of their histories.
Together, Guerrera and Arbulú offer a compelling exploration of the ephemeral, connecting the personal with the universal. Their works invite viewers to reflect on the delicate balance between fragility and resilience, tradition and transformation.
